Domestic air cargo agents form new association

In view of the growing importance of domestic air cargo movement in India and so the air cargo agents, the leading players in this sector have announced the formation of an association called Domestic Air Cargo Agents Association of India (DACAAI).

Highlighting the importance of the association, the association leaders explained that domestic air cargo business is growing at the rate of 19.5 per cent. All the cargo moves on commercial passenger flights except freighter of Blue Dart and Gati-Air India. The domestic cargo booked on the commercial passenger flights is booked through domestic air cargo agents. However, domestic air cargo agents are not recognised and air cargo has become synonymous to international air cargo. DACAAI will play the role of a platform for domestic air cargo agents.

The plans focus on the enhancement of runway capacity, apron capacity and terminal building capacity. The State government has handed over about 130 acres of land to the AAI for the development of the secondary runway. Land has also been made available by the Defence Authorities.
