Planners Group, was founded in 1984. Headquartered in New Delhi, the company
offers logistics services to exporters, importers as well as top business

Cargo Planners is approved by DG shipping India as MTO. Being a NVOCC, the
company is able to confirm allocated space on each sailing of vessel with
various shipping lines.
The company provides full container load (FCL) services by offering complete
schedule flexibility, a high frequency of sailings and availability of
equipment. It also provides less than container load (LCL) services. Said

schedule integrity. Due to our freight consolidation expertise and regular
worldwide connections from point to point, LCL provides you with reliable
performance and a lower supply chain cost. The company is offering direct
outbound and inbound LCL groupage services to and from major cargo

Cargo Planners also offers shippers’ own containers (SOC) box services,
irrespective of numbers, size at any port in India and the world. We have a
very close tie up with all major COC operators, that is, the main liners /
carriers for any type of containers,” added Duggal.
Cargo Planners has a dedicated team to concentrate on odd dimension cargo (ODC)
shipments. Handling of project cargo is also the proficiency of the company.
In addition, the company provides refrigerated container boxes of all sizes
with storage facilities for temperature sensitive commodities which are
capable of cooling to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

CII organises
conference on coastal shipping in Mumbai
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a conference on coastal
shipping called The Indian Coastal Shipping: The Opportunities towards
Economical Logistics on February 5 at ITC Grand Hotel in Mumbai. The
conference would be attended by senior officials from the coastal shipping
and logistics industry, consultants, analysts, technical / commercial
executives and policy makers. A research paper on “Coastal Shipping in India
- from Challenges to Opportunities” will also be released by CII Institute
of Logistics in association with the knowledge partner- E&Y.

Maersk CFS commences
operations of bonded warehouse at Nhava Sheva port, Mumbai
Recently, Maersk CFS, a subsidiary of A P Moller-Maersk Group, has started
operations from its bonded warehouse at Nhava Sheva port in Mumbai. The
total area of the warehouse is 1,560 sqm and has a height of 6.5 mtr. The
facility will have a dedicated warehouse space for the customers’ import
bonded cargo spread. According to Subhasis Ghosh, cluster director, south
Asia area, Maersk CFS emphasised the need for a bonded warehouse to cater to
the import distribution concept, which is being used in developed countries
all over the world. The bonded warehouse is a result of the changing
customer requirements from traditional FCL & LCLs handling and delivering
import cargo / containers. The warehouse was inaugurated by A K Das,
commissioner of customs – imports.

Safexpress
launches logistics park at Rudrapur in Uttarakhand
Safexpress has launched a logistics park in Rudrapur. This is the company’s
tenth launch in the country in the last ten months. Meanwhile, Safexpress
has launched logistics parks in Gurgaon, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, NCR,
Chennai, Salem, Puducherry and Pune. The company has invested Rs 150 million
in developing this setup. Located strategically near National Highway 87,
the logistics park in Rudrapur spans over a vast area of 60,000 square feet.
According to Vineet Kanaujia, general manager, marketing, Safexpress, over
the last few years, Rudrapur has become one of the most important industrial
centres in the country and there is huge business scope for the 3PL service
providers.

announced the appointment of R S Subramanian as country manager for DHL

Railways
increases commodity-wise freight revenue by 10.11 per cent during
April-December 2009
The Indian Railways has generated Rs 421468 million of revenue earnings from
commodity-wise freight traffic during April-December 2009 against Rs 382785
million during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase
of 10.11 per cent. Railways carried 652.63 million tonnes of commodity-wise
freight traffic during April-December 2009 as compared to 606.74 million
tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an
increase of 7.56 per cent.
