Aroon Aviation Services was established in 1986 with an objective to offer
quality services to the aviation and transportation industry. The company is
based in New Delhi. Initially the name of the company was Aroon Enterprises.
It had been changed as Aroon Aviation Services in 2005.
Aroon Aviation Services is an ISO 9001- 2008 certified organisation. Its
current employee strength is 2500. Total turnover of the company is
approximately Rs. 22 crore per annum. It has obtained clearance from Bureau
of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and Ministry of Home Affairs. The company
has got registered with Labour Department, ESI Corporation, Regional PF
Department, Service Tax Department and Income Tax and Sales Tax Department.
Major services of Aroon Aviation include airport ground handling, mechanised
housekeeping, airport cleaning services, aircraft cleaning services,
mechanised coach cleaning, ground handling services, manpower supply and
transportation services.
The airport ground handling services of the company are: flight handling,
ground and passenger handling, passenger facilitation services, X-Ray,
check-in counters, conveyer belt, make up area and break up area services.
Wheel chair handling, baggage reconciliation, Meet & Greet services for VIP
and first class passengers are also offered by the company.
In addition, valet services for VIP and first class passengers, ramp handling, crew
baggage handling, loading/unloading of passengers baggage and cargo on/from
aircraft are available.
Cargo handling services offered by the company include both
manual and fully automated warehouse systems. Other highlights are terminal
and reservation operations, cargo mail transportations and interline cargo
transfers.
The company has good repute about manpower supplying. Providing trained
manpower like customer services officers /assistants, computer operator,
receptionist, electrician, driver, loader, security guard, cleaner, helper
and office boy to the aviation industry is the company’s forte.
Elaborating on the company’s upcoming plans Suresh Rana, CMD, Aroon Aviation
Services informed, “We are planning to offer linen distribution project at
Nizamuddin, New Delhi (Northern Railway), exclusive handling of charter
flight at Udaipur and Jaipur, ground handling and other related activities
at Jammu, Srinagar, Varanasi and Goa airports and transportation services.”

J Krishnan
continues as president, ACAAI; new managing committee elected at AGM
The members of the Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACAAI) elected the new
managing committee for 2010-11 at the association's Annual General Meeting, held on
September 17 in Mumbai. J Krishnan, Bharat J Thakkar and SL Sharma will be
continuing as president, vice president and honorary treasurer. Asad Kassim
was elected as honorary secretary general of the association. The AGM
elected two new managing committee members—Trevor Saldhana and D Amarnath.
Six other managing committee members, who are continuing and re-elected are
Raghu Sankar G, TA Varghese, Anil Vazirani, Haresh Mehta, Sunil Arora and
Christoph Remund.
The new committee will organise the forthcoming Annual Convention to be held
from November 25 to November 28 in Bengaluru. Mean while, ACAAI has announced
the registration process for the forthcoming annual convention.

Export from India grows
by 22.5% in August 2010
India’s export registered a growth of 22.5 per cent in August, 2010, at US $
16.64 billion. According to the ministry of commerce sources, during
April-August 2010-11, export reached a level of US $ 85.27 billion at a
growth of 28.6 per cent while the import was $ 141.89 billion with a growth
of 33.2 per cent. Import in August were $ 29.7 billion, up by 32.6 per cent.
The ministry of commerce also asserted that India is on the track of
achieving a target of US $ 200 billion in 2010-11. The sectors which are
doing well are cotton yarn, gems & jewellery, plastics & linoleum, leather,
engineering goods, etc.

All airlines from Europe set to increase cargo capacity to India in winter
schedule
Airlines from Europe like Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France-KLM and
Swiss have decided to increase capacity to India market effective winter
this year. All the airlines have informed that the air cargo traffic between
India and Europe has witnessed more than 30 per cent growth with a load
factor more than 90 per cent in 2010. In the meanwhile, BA Cargo informed
that the airline would add capacity effective October this year. Air France-KLM
was also positive about increase in capacity. However, it would take cautious
step to make a balance between demand and supply. At present Swiss is
operating 11 flights a week to India, which is likely to be 14 a week in
this winter.

Services on September 23 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with

USA. The MoU designates Tirwin as the exclusive distributor for

TIACA and WCO sign agreement to ease worldwide air cargo
operation
Recently, The International Air Cargo
Association (TIACA) and World Customs Organisation (WCO) have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding to help identify how the air cargo industry can
assist in priority Customs objectives and to discuss how these can be best
achieved with minimum disruption to commercial operations. The agreement
aims to keep customs and the air cargo industry better informed of each
other’s developments and requirements through a wide-ranging exchange of
dialogue and documentation.

Traxon introduces eCargo Pouch and Traxon ACC Europe to
facilitate e-freight
Recently, Traxon added two new
products called eCargo Pouch and Traxon ACC Europe ICS. The aim of the new
launches is to support IATA’s e-freight initiative for paperless airfreight
handling. eCargo Pouch is a document and message management system that
offers airlines, forwarders, handling agents, shippers and customs
authorities a common electronic platform to view, transmit and file data.
Traxon ACC Europe ICS provides airlines and forwarders a single gateway to
all European customs authorities supporting electronic customs handling. The
solution meets all requirements of the upcoming EU Customs Security Filing
programme, which will become mandatory as of January 1, 2011.

L Radhakrishnan appointed as chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port
Trust
The Government of India has appointed
L Radhakrishnan, IAS, as chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) for a
period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of
the post or up to the date of his retirement on superannuation or until
further orders, whichever is the earliest. He is presently posted as
principal secretary to the government, power department, government of
Kerala. Radhakrishnan has succeeded SS Hussain, who assumed charge as JNPT
chairman in 2007.

Kolkata Port implements new licensing fee collection method for
storage of transit cargo
Recently, Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT)
has introduced new rules for collecting licensing fees on storage of transit
cargo in the yards and sheds of the Kolkata Dock System (KDS). According to
the new rules, the storage of transit cargo for the first 30 days will be
charged fees at normal rates; for next 30 days the fees will be three times
the normal rates. For the third month, the fees will be five times the
normal rates. For storage beyond that, the fees will be 10 times the normal
rates.

Air Cargo Germany makes a foray in Delhi
Air Cargo Germany, which is Germany’s
youngest freighter, has decided to launch their operations from January
2011, with initially two flights a week to Delhi. The airline has appointed
Arvind Rathi as their General Representative in India. Air Cargo Germany
will start their operation between Frankfurt Hahn and Delhi with Boeing
747-400s, capable of payload of 110 tonne capacity per flight for general
cargo, live animal, heavy and oversized pieces. Apart from Delhi, ACG is
expected to start its scheduled operations on Bengaluru-Hahn route by mid
January 2011.

to USA via Hong Kong
