EXHIBITIONS

Great India Travel Bazaar likely to see new host in 2010

The recently concluded 2nd edition of the Great India Travel Bazaar (April 19-21) culminated with the promise of the event travelling to some other state in 2010. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Jyotsana Suri, chairperson, FICCI Tourism Committee, indicated the possibility of the mart travelling to a new destination next year. However the event will again be back to Jaipur in 2011. GITB, initially conceived as a biannual event is likely to become an annual fixture considering the stupendous response the event has been able to generate within the first two years of its inception. The event has also been able to successfully fill in the gap caused by the absence of a purely B2B buyers meet sellers event to promote inbound tourism. Organised by FICCI, the event is slated to be hosted in Rajasthan in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 jointly with the state government. However propelled by the success and the popular demand for the event, FICCI now is considering taking the event to other parts of the country as well.
