AirAsia X offers promotional fare of `1 for Delhi-Kuala Lumpur flight
 
In a bid to celebrate the launch of daily flights between Delhi and Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia X, the low-cost long-haul affiliate carrier of AirAsia has offered a promotional fare of `1. The offer is valid for bookings made from August 7-August 8, 2010 for travel period beginning August 10-September 30, 2010.

India will need 1,150 aircraft over the next 20 years: Boeing
 
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has forecast that the Indian aviation market will require 1,150 commercial jets valued at approximately US$ 130 billion over the next 20 years. This estimate is an upward revision of 150 aircraft (50 B737 types and 100 twin aisles) compared to Boeing’s previous forecast of 1,000 commercial aircraft, valued at US$ 100 billion required till 2029.

Atout France holds agent specialist training programme
 
The France tourism development agency, Atout France launched its first French Specialist training sessions in six major cities in July 2010 to widen the knowledge of Indian travel agents about France as a tourist destination. The training programme conducted by Atout France in association with Amadeus India, also had four partners on board including Air France, Rail Europe, Accor Hospitality and the Rhône Alpes Regional Tourist Board. Sessions were held at Amadeus Training Centres located in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi from July 23-30, 2010 for travel companies.

Luxury Train, The Golden Chariot will add a second itinerary, The Golden Chariot- Southern Splendour, for its Season 3. The 7-night/ 8-day packaged tour will commence in October from Bengaluru and will embrace destinations like Chennai, Mamallapuram, Pondicherry, Tiruchirapalli & Thanjavur, Madurai, Trivandrum and Poovar, and Backwaters and Kochi, before terminating at Bengaluru again.

Palace on Wheels starts its season's run with added attractions
 
India’s flagship luxury tourist train, Place on Wheels rolled on its season’s maiden run recently with new attractions that include added sight seeing, cultural programme etc. The luxury tourist train has 30 scheduled departures, starting every Wednesday from New Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station from August 2010 till February 2011.

West Bengal identifies new tourism spots
 
Manabendra Mukherjee, Tourism Minister, West Bengal, recently said the government is trying to create new tourist destinations in Birbhum and Murshidabad districts. A flight service from Kolkata to Coochbehar will start in September. The government is also planning to open up western parts of Dooars for tourism.
