CIVIL AVIATION DGCA asks for clarifications on fare hike from airlines in India In view with the recent fare hike announced by the Indian carriers, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on February 12 issued a letter to all scheduled domestic airlines asking for information regarding the airfare increase and transparency in airfare advertising. According to the DGCA it has been brought to their notice that all the scheduled domestic airlines had increased their airfares simultaneously in the second week of February, 2009. The DGCA was not aware of the reasons for this simultaneous hike, specifically at a time when the ATF prices, effective February 1, 2009, are at the level that they were in 2005. The airlines had been asked to furnish detailed information regarding the airfare hikes along with detailed justification by February 14, 2009. For more details click here Top
