Traffic rights granted to Kingfisher Airlines
for seven new international routes
Kingfisher Airlines recently
announced that it has been granted traffic rights by the Government of India
to operate on seven new international routes. The flights on the New
Delhi–London–New Delhi and New Delhi–Hong Kong–New Delhi routes will be
operated using Airbus A330 while flights on the other routes will be
operated using the Airbus A320. The new destinations that have been granted
traffic rights from New Delhi are London, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Dubai.
Meanwhile, the new destinations from Mumbai are Colombo, Bangkok and Dubai.

New Air Services Agreement between India and
Nepal approved
The Government of
India has given its approval to the new Air Services Agreement between India
and Nepal, which was initiated by the civil aviation authorities of the two
countries on September 9, 2009 when air services talks were held between
both sides. Both the countries shall now be entitled to designate any number
of airlines for operation of mutually agreed services. The designated
airlines of each side shall be entitled to operate 30,000 seats per week
to/from the points specified in Route I of Section I and Section II with any
type of aircraft.

ITTE 2010 postponed for now, new dates yet to
be declared
The India Travel
Trade Expo (ITTE) 2010, a maiden venture of the Travel Agents Association of
India into travel exhibition space, scheduled to be held from February 18 -
20 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, has been postponed. According to
Iqbal Mulla, chairman, ITTE 2010 and honorary treasurer, TAAI, new dates,
expected in April or July, will be announced soon. Mulla said that the event
was postponed as the association did not want the value of the event to be
compromised. “And as there are a large numbers of trade shows lined up
around this time, we decided to postpone the dates in order to give both
buyers and sellers breathing space. The decision in this regard was taken in
consultation with the stakeholders, who also saw merit in our decision", he
added.

its new GDS partner in India
Carlson Wagonlit Travel
(CWT) and Travelport have confirmed that they are on track to completing a
large-scale migration of CWT India’s GDS business to the Galileo platform.
The conversion from CWT India’s current GDS provider to Travelport’s Galileo
system marks an extension of the long-standing relationship between the two
international organisations who already work closely in numerous other
business travel markets across the globe. The Galileo platform was selected
as the new GDS for CWT India as part of a wider, business re-engineering
initiative aimed at increasing productivity through CWT’s 200 points of sale
across the country.

South African Tourism to organise training
programmes for travel agents
With an aim to
increase product (South Africa) knowledge of frontline staff of travel
companies, South African Tourism will organise training sessions at 12
cities in India. Scheduled to be started in the third week of March, the
training programmes will be held throughout the year 2010 in Mumbai, Delhi,
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh,
Nagpur, Surat and Pune. According to Medha Sampat, country manager (India),
South African Tourism, the training programmes will also enhance knowledge
of provinces in South Africa including unique selling points of each
province.
