Delhi Police to issue license to hotels for possessing arms
Speaking at a recently organised panel
discussion on ‘Impact of Global Meltdown and Terrorism: India Tourism
Fights Back’ by FICCI, Sujit Banerjee, secretary, ministry of tourism,
Government of India talked about the prospect of the much-awaited request
from hotel industry to be considered for infrastructure status finally
seeing the light of the day. According to Banerjee the union ministry of
tourism has strongly pitched for the infrastructure status for hotel
Industry with the various government departments including Ministry of
Finance and Reserve Bank of India. The infrastructure status if
materialised may come with a rider. Hotel industry may get the much
awaited status in line with hospitals, ie, only the corporates involved in
hotel development may be considered for the status and if developed by
real estate developers may not be considered for the same. Whereas if
hotel development, by real estate developers is handed over to hotel
development companies then such development may well fall under
Infrastructure status. A final picture on the same is only expected to
emerge when the new budget is presented by the government.
