tourism (MOT), government of India on December 15, 2008 to take stock of
the tourism scenario in the wake of economic meltdown and Mumbai terror
attack, the ministry of tourism has officially confirmed that 2009 will be
Visit India year. Under the Visit India 2009, India will be aggressively
marketed in key source markets internationally. And visitors in 2009 would
experience rural tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, wellness tourism

their repeat visit to India. The MOT in partnership with other
stakeholders of travel, tourism and hospitality industry is finalising
attractive incentives and other modalities. The move is expected to boost
MOT’s effort to increase arrivals which have witnessed a perceptible
decline, especially in the second half of 2008 due to the slowdown and
terror attacks in India.
