Bengaluru International Airport to get more airlines by mid-2010
 
According to the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) sources, Air China and Qatar Airways have expressed interest to start operations from Bengaluru in summer 2010. Air China is keen to start operations on Shanghai–Chengdu–Bengaluru route and Qatar Airways has plans to deploy an A321 arriving daily from Doha. In addition, Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur is also scheduled to begin operations in April 2010. Airlines like Lufthansa and Air France that had reduced frequencies, have expressed reinstatement of the same.

New terminal (T3) at IGI Airport to be operational by July 2010
 
The infrastructure facilities of Terminal 3 (T3) at the IGI Airport, New Delhi will be ready by March 2010, said the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) sources. After that, the ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) trials will be carried out for three months. The terminal will be ready for commercial operations in July 2010. To get an update recently, Praful Patel, civil aviation minister and Sheila Dikshit, the chief minister of NCT Delhi, visited the project site. They also inaugurated the check-in counters in the departure level. Terminal 3 will have170 check-in counters, spread over six islands.

ADTOI's forthcoming convention themed as domestic tourism - foundation of incredible India
 
ADTOI (Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India) has decided to theme its forthcoming convention as domestic tourism – foundation of incredible India. The convention is scheduled to be held from March 19-20 at Ashok hotel in New Delhi. Subhash Verma, vice-president, ADTOI has been appointed as the convention chairman. The association is in the process to finalise a convention committee that will oversee various developments in the run-up to the event in March.

GITB 2010 allows buyer-sellers to pre-fix meetings
 
The Great India Travel Bazaar (GITB) 2010 will soon allow its registered Indian sellers and foreign buyers to pre-fix their meetings by mid January for the forthcoming event to be organised in  April. About 200 foreign buyers from 50 countries are expected to participate, of which 145 foreign buyers from 46 countries have already confirmed their participation. About 90 per cent of the foreign buyers are expected to be the first time participants in the event. The event is scheduled from April 11-13 at BM Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Haryana Tourism Mart announces two more fairs at Gurgaon in 2010
 
The first ever Gurgaon Tourism Fair was organised by Haryana Tourism Mart (HTM) in partnership with Haryana Tourism and Ministry of Tourism on December 19 at the Ambience mall. With this and two more shows scheduled in 2010, HTM has set the stage to further promote Haryana. It will organise a shopping fair in February, which will be similar to the Dubai Shopping Fair. Moreover, another Gurgaon Tourism Fair will be organised in October, which will coincide with the Commonwealth Games to attract a large number of domestic and international visitors to Haryana.

Visit India 2009 scheme to be revised
 
The impact of Visit India 2009 scheme, which was launched at the beginning of 2009, is being studied by the Ministry of Tourism. Once the final assessment is out on the stimulatory effects of the scheme, it will be revised to attract higher number of foreign tourist arrivals, told Sujit Banerjee, secretary, Ministry of Tourism. The initiative was undertaken to minimise the negative impact of the global economic in collaboration with all stakeholders in travel sector.

Egypt woos visitors from NCR region in Gurgaon Tourism Fair
 
The Egyptian Tourism Authotiry (ETA) participated in the first-ever Gurgaon Tourism Fair to exhibit the various travel attraction in Egypt and enhance the footfall from the National Capital Region (NCR) around Delhi. The board also leveraged the opportunity to attract MICE decision makers from the hub of multinational companies and its adjoining satellite towns in the NCR.
