IATA makes a conservative forecast of a profit of US$ 9.1 billion for 2011
According to International Air Transport Association’s
Business Confidence Index, while 2011 is expected to be another profitable
year, confidence in further significant improvement is diminishing. Although
the outlook remains positive, loosening demand-supply conditions and upward
fuel cost pressures mean that momentum for further boosts to profitability
is slowing. For 2011, IATA has made a conservative forecast of a profit of
US$ 9.1 billion for the aviation industry. In December 2010, it had revised
up its forecast for 2010 industry profits to US$15.1 billion.
