The Association of Domestic Tour
Operators of India (ADTOI) will conduct its annual convention cum travel
exhibition on November 25-26 at The Ashoka, New Delhi. P P Khanna, Vice
President, ADTOI, has been appointed as the convention Chairman for the
annual convention cum travel exhibition 2011, whom Subhash Verma, President,

ATOAI announces its '9th Annual Convention' to be held in Srinagar from
12-15 September 2011
The Adventure Tour Operators
Association of India (ATOAI) has announced its 9th Annual Convention to be
held in Srinagar from September 12-15, 2011. The convention is themed
‘Indian Adventure – Creating Opportunities’. The Convention Committee will
be led by ATOAI founder President, Swadesh Kumar as its Chairman and
Immediate Past President Ajeet Bajaj and Vice-President, Ravi Kalra as
Co-Chairman. The convention venue will be Sher-i-Kashmir International
Conference Centre, Srinagar.
ATOAI’s (Adventure Tour Operators
Association of India) will host 100 international and 100 domestic buyers
during the 9th annual convention, scheduled from September 12-15, in
Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The information was shared by ATOAI President, Tejbir Singh Anand at an event organised in New Delhi. The association will
be supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Ministry of
Tourism, Government of Jammu & Kashmir as well as the various local trade
bodies in the state in hosting the buyers. The association is also talking
to various airlines to offer assistance in hosting the buyers in order, to
promote tourism in the state of J&K as well as to the country.

Kerala High Court orders personal appearance of Secretary MOCA and the DGCA
in the 'Contempt of Court' case following the ‘Zero Commission’ petition
According to a communication
issued by the IAAI, the Kerala High Court, while hearing the Contempt of
Court Case against MoCA and DGCA of disregarding the HC directives following
DGCA’s March 5, 2010 order, has asked MoCA Secretary, Nasim Zaidi and
Director General of Civil Aviation, Bharat Bhushan to answer personally
before the Court as to why penal action for contempt should not be served on
them. IAAI President, Biji Eapen, who is also a petitioner in this case,
while confirming the news, informed that a letter in this regard will be
sent to the two respondents in a day or two by the HC. According to the
DGCA’s March 5, 2010 order, Commission is the only lawful remuneration
payable to Travel Agents and declining Transaction fee as illegal and that
the quantum of commission should be decided by the Airlines. Meanwhile, the
16 ‘zero’ carriers have continued with their no commission policy since it
was implemented by them two and a half years ago.

Kingdom of Dreams brings ‘ACROMANIA-The Great Mongolian Circus,’ offers 10%
commission on Agency booking
Gurgaon’s Kingdom of Dreams,
India’s first live entertainment destination has opened a new show called
‘ACROMANIA-The Great Mongolian Circus’. Tickets booked by agencies earns 10
per cent as commission. From Tuesday to Thursday tickets are priced at Rs
500 and Rs 2,000. Between Friday and Sunday the tickets are priced Rs 750 and
Rs 2,500. An enthralling 90 minute show, starting at 6 pm, comprises of 15
breathtaking acrobatic, inspired by the Mongolian culture and performed by 20
established Mongolian artists. The show has also entertained audiences in
US, China, Russia and France and is especially popular with the global
audience.

Second property of Keys Hotels opened in Bengaluru on June 27 with room

Keys Hotels, the mid-market brand
of Berggruen Hotels, announced the launch of Keys Hotel and Apartments at
Whitefield Bengaluru on June 27. The property comprises 150 Keys rooms, 40
studio suites with fully equipped kitchenettes and 35 one-bedroom suites
with fully equipped kitchenettes. It is the second Keys hotel in Bengaluru,
after the successful launch of Keys hotel at Hosur Rd in September 2010.

Sarovar announces a joint venture with Africa-based Marasa Hospitality for
expansion in religious destinations across India, first 4 properties to come
up in Rajkot, Tirupati, Bodhgaya and Rishikesh
Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has
signed a joint venture (JV) with Marasa Hospitality to open hotels in
religious destinations across India. The first four properties that will
come up under the JV will be located at Rajkot (70 keys), Tirupati (120
keys), Bodhgaya (60 keys) and Rishikesh (120 keys). These hotels will have
well appointed rooms, restaurants, lounges, banquet halls and other
facilities conforming to the 3-star international standards. Other locations
currently being explored under the JV are Varanasi, Dharamsala and Puri.
The JV aims to establish across all religious and pilgrimage destinations
within India in the next five years.

MOT launches ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’ scheme at the ITDC run Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism

In a function chaired by RH Khwaja,
Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on Thursday, June 30,
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, launched the “Hunar Se Rozgar Tak”
Scheme. It is a Training Programme initiative of the Ministry of Tourism at
the ITDC run Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management (AIH&TM).
The scheme will also run concurrently at ITDC’s hotels located at Guwahati,
Ranchi, Patna and Jaipur. The programme aims to create employable skills in
the interested youth between the age group of 18-25 years. The interested
candidate should be minimum 8th class pass.

The New Zealand Tourism Board has
re-launched its ‘100% Pure’ campaign as ‘100% pure
you’ to capture the individual nature of New Zealand for various segment of
travellers. The campaign in India will start in July 2011 and will offer
joint promotional activities for the travel agents and airlines specifically
for those offering one-stop connectivity on India - New Zealand route. Over
30,000 Indians visited New Zealand in 2010 and the figures are expected to
grow in coming years.
