IATO demands extension of mandatory registration deadline

The Indian Association of Tour Operators has sought extension of the mandatory registration policy deadline till mid of August 2010. Lately, the Delhi Government had extended the date of submissions of application till 30 June 2010, but it has not yet issued the revised guidelines for submitting the application. Since the department has not issued any fresh guidelines, and stakeholders in travel trade in Delhi will need some time for filling up the form, the date is likely be extended further.

It also expressed the need to do away with 'zero commission' system as it eventually leads to charging of transaction fees from the passenger as a compensation for the agent.
