DGCA orders airlines to abide by the Rule 135
(1) for resolving commission issue
With
a view to resolve the commission issue, the DGCA (director general of civil
aviation) on March 11 issued an order to all the airlines to abide by the
Rule 135 (1), which requires airlines to determine tariff by definition
(including commission payable to agents).
Talking exclusively to TravTalk, RK Maheshwari, joint director general civil
aviation, informed that the DGCA office has given time to the airlines till
March 18 to follow the order. He, however, clarified that the airlines may
come to the DGCA office if they have any further query in this regard. He
also made it clear that DGCA would not support any ‘model’ like ‘transaction
fee’, which is above and over the published tariff.
Meanwhile, all
the travel agents associations welcomed the order and are expecting its
early implementation.
