AVIATION

DGCA fails to end commission deadlock between agents and airlines

A year after, DGCA, the statutory authority governing India’s civil aviation, is still awaiting the compliance of its March 05, 2010 order on commission by the 16 carriers who have gone zero. And so is the Kerala High Court. The March 18, 2011, meeting called by the DGCA of IAAI, the 16 airlines, IATA in the presence of MOCA, has reportedly failed to end the commission impasse between the Agents and the 16 airlines.

The airlines have reportedly strongly contested against the payment of commission stating that they are not obliged to pay commission and the order of March 5, 2010 from DGCA does not compel them to pay commission. Whereas, IAAI emphasized that this particular Meeting is only to establish the ‘quantum’ of commission as the court has directed the DGCA to execute the law within a month and report compliance by April 1.
