FICCI and ADTOI to jointly organise the Ist Domestic Tourism Conclave on August 10 in New Delhi
 
FICCI, with the Support of Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), will organise the first ever Domestic Tourism Conclave scheduled for the August 10, 2011 at The Lalit, New Delhi. The conclave is an endeavour to chalk out a viable strategy to increase the flow of domestic tourists within India. There will be three plenary sessions that will make policy makers and stakeholders in the Domestic tourism dwell deeper on the vision and challenges confronting the domestic market.

Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Minister of Tourism, allocates Rs 150 crore for 'Mahaparipath', a Sufi Tourism Circuit Development Project, in Gujarat
 
Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Tourism Minister recently announced an allocation of Rs 150 crore for Dwarka, Porbandar and Kabirwad. The project which is called 'Mahaparipath' aims to develop a Sufi tourism circuit on the lines of Buddhist and Jain circuits. The Centre would allocate an additional Rs 50 crore over and above Rs 50 crore for the Kabirwad project and Rs 25 crore for Dwarka and Porbandar each.

MOT meets trade’s demand by upgrading its website to make it more user-friendly
 
Stakeholders will be in for a pleasant surprise, when they log on to the upgraded portal of the Ministry of Tourism (MOT). Trade had on their wish-list a more aesthetically strong website of MOT. The new upgraded website is not only visually appealing, but is much faster and more user friendly.

Maharashtra Govt. sanctions an additional fund worth Rs 25 crore for promoting Tiger Reserves in Vidharbha
 
The state forest department will promote tiger tourism in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister, Maharashtra had directed finance department to provide additional funds for promoting tiger reserves at Tadoba, Melghat and Pench. The budgetary allocation from the union government was Rs 25 crore and with additional funds worth Rs 25 crore, a total of Rs 50 crore will be available for the development of the reserves. The Tadoba Tiger reserve had 1 lakh tourist footfalls in 2010. The forest department is putting together a plan to double the number of tourists visiting tiger reserves. Good facilities and packages for circuit trips to various tiger reserves are on cards to promote forest tourism in the region. Earlier, Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest, during his visit to the state, had declared Nagpur as a 'tiger gateway'.
