AIRLINES After getting GSA for Sama Airlines, Benzy Holidays has been successful in securing passenger GSA of Ethiopian Airlines for Gujarat effective September 2009. This GSA agreement is valid for three years. Ethiopian Airlines assigned Benzy Holidays, part of Akbar Travels, as a GSA to tap the Gujarat market. Iqbal Mody, executive director of Benzy Holidays stated that they wish to promote more destinations through Ethiopian Airlines, like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria etc. Their target travellers are the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic from Gujarat. Louis Cruises India has recently launched its operations in India with Kochi as its homeport. Its launch forms part of its strategy for further expanding its international operations by entering new markets. The company aims to introduce the benefits and beauties of cruising in comfort and style to some of the region’s most enticing destinations. Louis Cruises India will operate three-day and one-day cruises out of the port of Kochi from December 2009 to May 2010 on board MV ‘Aquamarine’, a luxury cruise ship with a carrying capacity of 1,200 passengers and all the comforts and amenities to cater to the needs and hospitality of the Indian passengers. The Ministry of Tourism (MOT), Government of India, in association with the Indian Mission in Russia and Experience India Society, is organising Incredible India events in Russia from September 22-27, 2009 as part of celebration of the “Year of India in Russia”. The primary objective of the Incredible India events is to showcase the tourism potential of India and to place India as a favoured destination among the Russians. The MOT is also participating in the Otdykh Leisure Show 2009 in Moscow by putting up an India Pavilion covering an area of 100 sq m, which was inaugurated by Sanjay Kothari, additional secretary –tourism, in the presence of travel partners from India on 22 September.
